Fall Guys, formerly known as Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, is a platform-based battle royale game developed by Mediatonic. It was released in August 2020 and is completely free to play.

Gameplay

In Fall Guys, up to 40 players participate in obstacle courses featuring battle royale-style gameplay. The players are represented by jellybean-like figures that move around on a three-dimensional playing field. Players have the ability to jump, grab/climb, or dive, which helps them in their gameplay. The objective is to qualify for the next rounds by successfully completing each of the randomly selected mini-games. The mini-games include Race rounds where players must reach the finish line, Survival rounds where players must avoid getting knocked off the slime, Team rounds where players are put in groups and must work together to qualify, and more. Obstacles are also added to the map for added complexity. Players who are too slow, fall into pink slime, or fail to complete a mini-game are eliminated. The remaining players then compete in a final match featuring a randomized mini-game designed for a smaller player size. The winner is determined by being the last player standing or the first to finish.

Story

There is no story in Fall Guys as it is a multiplayer only game.

Fall Guys received generally favorable reviews by critics. The game received recognition for its innovative take on the battle royale genre by integrating content suitable for all ages, instead of relying on violent aspects.

The game garnered an impressive player base of over 1.5 million within 24 hours of its release. Devolver Digital later confirmed the sale of 2 million copies on Steam on August 10, 2020. The servers for Fall Guys experienced an unexpected overload on the first day of release due to its immense popularity.
