Hades is a Roguelike video game developed by Supergiant Games. It was released for macOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows in September 2020. It was subsequently released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in August 2021.
Gameplay
The player controls Zagreus, who tries to survive as he travels through a series of rooms, which are all randomly generated and presented in an isometric view. To begin, the player must battle through a series of rooms before making his way to the boss. The layouts and adversaries that appear in the rooms are predetermined, but their order and the sequence in which they appear are random. The hack and slash combat system is featured in the game. Players have six possible weapon picks (out of which one can be the primary offensive weapon) in addition to a magic “cast” that can be used from a distance, a dash that lets you momentarily become unharmed and mobile, and a summon attack that can call for enormous power from one of the Gods.
Story
Zagreus, the child of Hades, tries to escape the Underworld in search of Nyx, his adoptive mother. The Gods of Olympus, as well as other underworld inhabitants, aid him. Hades forbids Zagreus from escaping, and so he is tormented by the Underworld’s monsters. Zagreus is revived at the House of Hades at the bottom of the underworld once he has been slain, and he begins his next attempt at escape.
How long is Hades?
When it comes to the primary goals, Hades typically takes around 22 and a half hours to complete. If you’re a dedicated gamer who wants to experience every aspect of the game, it may take you approximately 95 and a half hours to achieve 100% completion.
Reception
Hades achieved both commercial and critical success, with many praising its gameplay, art direction, music, narrative and characters. The game sold over a million copies and is widely regarded as one of the best of 2020. It was honored as game of the year by various award shows and media outlets. A follow-up title, Hades II, was declared for 2022.
