Rocket League Wiki
Rocket League is a competitive video game developed and published by Psyonix. The game combines the elements of soccer and driving. It initially came out in 2015 in two versions: one for Windows, and another one for PlayStation 4. Later on, it was released for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Gameplay
In Rocket League, the mechanics of the game are practically indistinguishable from its predecessor: Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. In this game, each player controls a car that has been rocket-powered and utilizes it to hit a much bigger ball into the goal area of the opposing team in order to score goals, which is very similar to indoor soccer. The cars of the players have the ability to jump to hit the ball in mid-flight. Additionally, they can obtain a speed boost by driving over certain spots on the field, which enables them to boost across the field. The player can utilize this boost to hit the ball with additional force, or smash into another player’s car to blow it up; if the latter happens, the car will be restored to the player’s side of the field a few moments later. Also, when in the air, a player can use a boost to progress ahead, giving them the ability to hit the ball while airborne. Furthermore, players are able to modify the direction of their car while in midair.

Reception
Rocket League earned much appreciation for its gameplay improvements when compared to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle-Cars, as well the graphics and presentation. However, some minor criticism was directed at the game’s physics engine. By the start of 2018, the game had won various industry awards, achieved over 10 million sales, and accumulated 40 million players. In addition, Rocket League has been embraced as an esport, with professional players playing through ESL, Major League Gaming, and Psyonix’s Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).
