Splosion Man, developed by Twisted Pixel Games, is a 2.5D action platformer that was released through the Xbox Live Arcade service for Xbox 360. It was released on July 22, 2009, as part of the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade event.

Gameplay

Big Science, a fictional laboratory, created the protagonist of the game, known as ‘Splosion Man, who is solely composed of explosive material. The ultimate objective of the game is to navigate through various levels containing hazards, riddles, and foes to flee from the facility. The character’s primary move is a “splode,” which enables him to leap and eliminate adversaries, demolish structures, detonate explosive barrels, or activate other features. The character can perform up to three consecutive explosions before taking a brief pause to restore his energy.

Story

Splosion Man is set in a laboratory located underground, where the main character, who is a bit deranged, is attempting to flee. He was inadvertently produced by researchers.

Reception

‘Splosion Man was positively received and garnered good reviews. The game’s humor, ease of use, and affordability were particularly appreciated by critics. Additionally, the game’s level design, gameplay duration, and overall personality was also commended.

According to a Microsoft Australia spokesperson, ‘Splosion Man, along with four other Summer of Arcade games, was a financial hit and would have been among the top 10 best-selling games in Australia during their first week of release. By the end of 2011, ‘Splosion Man had sold more than 487,000 units. No details were left out while rephrasing the ORIGINAL TEXT.
