Gameplay

Stardew Valley is a video game that is inspired by the Harvest Moon series. When you begin playing, you get to make a character who inherits their grandfather’s land and house in a small village called Pelican Town. There are multiple types of farms that you can choose from, all with their own advantages and disadvantages. Your land will be filled with obstacles such as rocks, trees, stumps, and weeds which you must remove if you want to start your farm. You then need to take care of your crops and livestock to make money and upgrade the farm’s structures and facilities.

Story

The central idea of the plot in Stardew Valley is straightforward: You are an average worker who, after years of working at a desk staring at a computer, can no longer take it and decides to leave. Consequently, you board a bus to the farm that your grandpa bequeathed you ages ago, located in Stardew Valley.

How long is Stardew Valley?

When it comes to the main goals, Stardew Valley takes approximately 52 and a half hours to complete. If you’re a dedicated gamer who wants to explore every aspect of the game, you can expect to spend around 158 hours to achieve 100% completion.

Reception

Stardew Valley was highly commended by reviewers, who drew attention to its music, characters, and tranquil traits. Subsequently, it was recognized as one of the best video games ever made. Yasuhiro Wada, the creator of Harvest Moon, also applauded the game for preserving the freedom that later installments of his series had abandoned.

The game was highly successful, with more than 20 million copies sold as of 2022.
