Gameplay

SteamWorld Dig is a game where you play as a steam-powered robot named Rusty whose mission is to explore the mines situated beneath the old Western town of Tumbleton to uncover its secrets. Your main objective is to mine for resources and ores, and you start off with a pickaxe but can upgrade to other tools such as a drill and dynamite. As you progress in the game, you can increase the efficiency of your tools. You need to keep an eye on your health, and also make sure you have coal for light and water for special abilities.

SteamWorld Dig combines elements of platform gameplay with mining objectives. Players must navigate through challenges, enemies, and obstacles while gathering resources and deconstructing the game world. These resources can be exchanged for cash or used to unlock new abilities as the player progresses through the game. Randomization ensures that each playthrough offers a unique experience, with treasures and items appearing in different locations. In case of getting trapped, players can either use the self-destruct function or purchase ladders from the store to escape tricky situations.
