Gameplay

Thumper is a game that involves leading a beetle-like character through various challenging worlds on a single or multi-track. The player must hit illuminated “notes” on the track in sync with the background music by pressing a button while also avoiding obstacles, navigating curved walls, jumping over spikes, and defeating foes. The game is played from a third-person perspective with an incredibly fast scrolling pace.

The game is divided into different sections or levels, with a score and rating awarded to the player after each segment based on their performance. The beetle character can withstand one mistake, such as missing a turn or colliding with an obstacle, and can regain its protective shield at certain points. However, if the beetle is hit again without its shield, it will be destroyed, and the level will restart from the last checkpoint. The player has the option to replay a segment multiple times to progress through the level.
