Gameplay

Tunic is an action-adventure genre and takes place in a fantasy world that has been destroyed by an apocalypse. The main character is a fox-like creature who must explore the environment and engage in battles with unfriendly creatures. At the beginning of the game, the player is not given any guidance or instructions, and most of the content is written in a language that has been constructed specifically for the game. The graphics show the 3D landscape from an isometric perspective, although this changes at certain points throughout the game.

Story

TUNIC is a somber and gloomy story. You assume the role of an unnamed protagonist who unveils the spirit of the Heir, a renowned hero who once exposed a dreadful truth about the world by opening a tomb. The soul was then confined in the Far Shore, a place that exists between life and death.

To liberate the soul, a new heir must emerge, retrieve all three keys, and set them free from their captivity. However, this comes with a cost, and if the hero is not deserving, the sorrowful and cruel cycle will repeat itself. TUNIC has two different conclusions: the unfavorable one and the genuine one.

Reception

TUNIC received favorable reviews from critics. Although there were some mixed reactions to certain aspects, the gameplay received high praise overall. A number of reviewers found the combat to be a difficult yet fulfilling experience.
