Gameplay

Undertale is a game that involves role-playing and features a top-down view. The player takes on the role of a child and has to accomplish specific objectives to advance through the game’s story. The game world is set underground and includes various towns and caves that require players to solve puzzles. The underground environment is populated by monsters, some of whom challenge the player in combat. The player can choose to either kill, run away, or befriend these monsters. The choices made by the player have a significant impact on the game’s storyline and overall progress, with the player’s moral compass playing a vital role in determining the game’s outcome.

Story

Undertale takes place in the Underground, a world where monsters were sent after a war with humans in the year 201X. The Underground is closed off from the surface by a magical barrier, except for one gap at Mount Ebott. One day, a human child falls into the Underground through this gap and meets a sentient flower named Flowey. Flowey teaches the player about the game’s mechanics and encourages them to raise their “LV” or “LOVE” by killing monsters and gaining “EXP.” However, when Flowey tries to kill the human, a motherly goat-like monster named Toriel rescues them. Toriel teaches the human how to survive in the Underground without killing and wants to adopt them to protect them from the king of the Underground, Asgore.

How long is Undertale?
